MDE is looking for a planner to lead and coordinate the planning aspects of large-scale solar and energy storage projects.
The Role:
As the Planning Development Manager, you will be the driving force behind the planning process for our grid-connected solar and energy storage projects. You’ll collaborate with both in-house and external teams, guiding projects from early stages through to “ready-to-build” (RTB) status.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all planning aspects of solar and energy storage projects.
- Coordinate with external consultants and manage community engagement.
- Act as the main contact, liaising with property, planning, grid, technical, legal, and commercial teams.
- Ensure projects are on track with clearly defined timelines and milestones.
- Monitor project budgets and report on progress, risks, and mitigation.
The ideal candidate:
- Holds a degree in a planning-related discipline, with eligibility for membership of an accredited professional institute (MRTPI or equivalent).
- Strong ability to liaise with internal and external teams, securing necessary approvals for RTB projects.
- Proven experience in identifying obstacles and influencing key decisions to keep projects on schedule.
- Effective resource management skills to deliver key project outcomes.
- Possesses a full UK driving licence and is willing to travel frequently for site visits and meetings.
