We’re looking for someone with a strong background in managing a variety of IT technology projects, from infrastructure and networking, hardware, software to regulatory and cybersecurity, within a fast-paced and demanding environment. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are not only completed successfully but also align with the strategic objectives of the business.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and resource allocation to build, test, delivery and handover to post-implementation support. You’ll work closely with project sponsors, senior IT managers, and various cross-functional teams to ensure that all projects are executed efficiently and effectively. The position also involves significant interaction with external customers to understand their requirements as well as suppliers, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliver on time.

Given the nature of the work, this role requires someone who can navigate complex security requirements and maintain the highest levels of data integrity, especially when dealing with sensitive information.

Existing security clearance is a requirement of the role.

So, what are we looking for?

  • A solid track record in managing diverse IT projects.
  • Project Management qualifications such as APM, PRINCE2, or Agile APM, along with practical experience in these methodologies.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with proven experience in customer engagement and supplier management.
  • Experience in managing projects within a matrix organisation and familiarity with ITIL practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen eye for detail and high standards of work.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and handle competing deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • The position requires successful completion of MoD Developed Vetting Security Clearance.
  • The successful candidate will be required to travel to the Bristol office for secure meetings as and when required as well as customer sites.

What do we offer in return?

Flexible working as standard, annual salary reviews, company paid private medical insurance, up to 12.5% employer pension contribution, great people, honorary staff status at the University of Bristol. With a genuine focus on wellbeing, EDI and learning and development this is a chance to build your career in a thriving R&D facility with a bright future.
