Traffic Engineer

Are you a Traffic Engineer looking to make a tangible impact? Do you have experience in designing and delivering minor traffic schemes, combined with excellent communication skills?

The Role:

As a Traffic Engineer, you will play a key part in delivering essential traffic schemes. Your focus will be on designing and implementing minor signing and lining schemes, as well as providing solutions for various traffic-related challenges. Working closely with in-house teams, you will lead investigations, produce outline designs, and oversee the successful delivery of schemes.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Scheme Design & Delivery: Lead the design and implementation of minor traffic schemes, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with members of the public, parish councils, local councillors, and MPs, responding to traffic-related issues and attending site visits when necessary.
Technical Expertise: Offer expert advice on traffic engineering matters, ensuring compliance with legal obligations while enhancing safety and efficiency on the road network.
Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present reports, technical briefing papers, and design inputs to stakeholders, ensuring recommendations are well-documented and effective.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure the successful delivery of schemes while fostering strong relationships.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced Traffic Engineer with strong technical expertise and a collaborative approach. You will also bring:
A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with significant experience in traffic engineering.
Solid understanding of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, and the Traffic Signs Manual.
Previous experience providing design input during the construction phase and strong AutoCAD skills.
Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service with experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong report writing and presentation skills, with attention to detail.
