Job Requirements/Description

Joining our service as a Finance Officer you will be part of an exciting opportunity to develop this newly established role. You will be the first port of call for handling and processing a wide variety of financial transactions for Children in Care, Care Leavers, Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers and the Fostering/SGO Teams.

This is a very busy and demanding role and you will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and to be able to respond to changing priorities, working to deadlines to ensure that payments are processed in a timely way.

The day-to-day role will involve full oversight of the petty cash and cheque payments and accounts totalling £13k. It would be helpful if you have experience or an understanding of BCC financial and procurement regulations. In this role you will need to keep accurate financial records and comply with internal audit recommendations and year end processes and procedures.

You will use a database ABW to add purchase orders and process and receipt invoices for payment and you will also process BAC’s payments. It will be your responsibility to balance the cash/cheque accounts on a weekly basis and ordering cash from the cash office as needed.

Reporting to the Deputy Service Manager. This is an office-based role where you will sit alongside our fantastic business support at our B-Bond location based on Bristol’s riverside.

About you

  • You will be an enthusiastic team player who is organised and motivated to build the role and implement new operating systems that support the production of financial data and forecasting.
  • You will have a good working knowledge databases and ordering system alongside reconciling and providing advice to the staff.
  • You will understand PO requisitions, raising PO's and invoice management, how to set up and make BACS payment runs, have knowledge of Income management and reconciliation of payments, cash and credit cards.
