Job Requirements/Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a team manager in our unaccompanied asylum-seeking child in care team, within our wider Through Care Service. Job share, maternity cover for one year (25.9 hours).

Do you want to work for Bristol City Council in a challenging but rewarding job as part of a team improving the outcomes for children in care? Do you have excellent leadership skills? Then this could be the role for you.

We want our teams to reflect the people of Bristol, so we are committed to recruiting people from a range of backgrounds.

The Through Care Service supports children and young people aged 0-25 and their families, through their journey in care and as care leavers.

As a team manager you will lead on, and manage, the delivery of high quality social work activities within a team working across a range of specialisms and services to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children.

The role will have a high level of focus on the development and raising of quality of social work practice and standards. The team is dedicated to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and consists of six social workers, a family support worker and an administrator.

You will work alongside another manager with overlapping days and will be part of a team of eleven team mangers working across Through Care.

We are based at B Bond in an open plan office overlooking the river and Ashton Court, Clifton and the suspension bridge. We have high aspirations for our children and young people and are committed to providing services to achieve the best possible outcomes.

The role demands a high standard of analytical and communication skills, multi-agency working, problem solving and risk management.

You will have excellent skills in delivering, monitoring and planning services at an operational level and leading complex and high-risk plans in respect of children’s safety as well as experience of performance management and the supervision of staff.

We are creative in our approach to be certain we meet the needs of our children.

Our practice is underpinned by signs of safety and we encourage a systemic and reflective approach.

Last year we had an Ofsted inspection and received Good for both our children in care and our care leaver services. A quote from the report:
