Project Manager- Sustainable Transport

Are you an experienced Project Manager interested in Sustainable Transport and Infrastructure Projects?
My client has a Programme of work due for completion in March 2027. They require improvements in governance, meeting structures, workstreams, and audit trails. Your role will be crucial in supporting these improvements and ensuring the programme's success.

The Role: Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Project Manager will deliver infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity to use your strong project management and collaboration skills to support our Transport, Infrastructure, and Capital Delivery projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver infrastructure projects sustainably, on time, within budget, and to quality standards, adhering to corporate guidelines.
Develop appropriate delivery strategies and plans for specific projects, whether strategic or capital delivery.
Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
Work with the Infrastructure Commercial Manager to procure and manage technical resources required for project delivery.
Control project change, risks, and contingencies throughout the project life cycle.
Report on project progress to key internal and external stakeholder.
Support the production of business cases to bid for project funding through the Combined Authorities governance system, Central Government, and other third-party funders.
Assist Combined Authorities Programme Managers, the Transport Operations, and Transport Policy Team in delivering projects.
Present complex engineering schemes and strategic projects clearly and concisely in plain English to a range of stakeholders.

Required Experience:
Extensive experience in transport infrastructure projects, particularly in communications, traffic management, and network management.
Proven track record of working on projects and with stakeholders in a local political environment.
Hands-on experience in writing and implementing a full range of project management tools such as PID, briefs, project plans, highlight reports, and risk registers.
Experience managing budgets, including monitoring, review, and reporting.
Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams (Highways, Road Safety, Legal, Comms, Finance), facilitate meetings, report progress, and seek input.
Experience managing complex benefit assessment and assurance deliverables for project development.
Expertise in managing and reviewing design development for complex infrastructure projects up to outline design.
Skilled in managing political and third-party stakeholders.
