This position seeks a Temporary Finance Assistant capable of supporting the Tax Accountant with a wide range of financial tasks. You will be involved in the post-implementation of the Contracted-out Services VAT project, and the ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax & VAT operations.

Description
- Assist the Tax Accountant with the COS VAT recovery project, applying principles to monthly transactions,
- Investigate and reconcile COS-coded transactions,
- Produce monthly Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns,
- Maintain compliance-related tasks such as pool vehicle mileage logs, and the Duty Deferment Account for import VAT recovery,
- Provide ad-hoc support to the Financial Accounting Services team.
Profile
A successful Temporary Finance Assistant should have:
- A solid background in accounting with a strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and journal production,
- Currently studying ACCA/CIMA, or holds level 4 AAT,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables,
- In-depth knowledge of UK VAT legislation, with experience in VAT returns being highly desirable,
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working independently and handling multiple tasks with minimal guidance,
- Be enthusiastic to learn about new areas of tax,
- Experience with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) is preferable but not essential.
