What you'll do

Ashfords' Corporate department is seeking to recruit a Professional Support / Knowledge Lawyer in a non-fee earning capacity to join our busy and highly regarded team based in our Bristol or Exeter office on either a full time or part time basis.

Described by the Legal 500 in 2023 as “a very professional firm with qualities you would look for from a so-called Magic Circle law firm in partners across corporate, tax, property and technology..” our Corporate team are one of the busiest and most successful departments in the firm.

A friendly and welcoming team who prioritise finding solutions rather than problems, in this non-fee earning role, you will be working as part of the firm's well established Knowledge Management team. On a day-to-day basis, you will provide support to the Corporate team, with your main responsibility being to ensure fee earners are informed of new laws and developments, whilst assisting with preparing internal and external briefing notes, undertaking legal research and creating and updating templates.

Alongside this, working closely with our internal Learning and Development team, you will provide and organise technical training, including preparing seminars and sessions for both internal and external clients. You will also assist the team with preparing pitch documents, bids and identifying cross selling opportunities.

Who you are

As a qualified and experienced corporate lawyer from either a city or regional law firm, you will have the ability to understand and relate to internal and external clients' needs, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering excellent client care. With good project management skills, you have shown your ability to cope with pressures arising from handling multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines. Highly organised and with an eye for detail, you will be able to develop and implement effective systems to organise your work and meet users' needs, whilst having a flexible and adaptable attitude to your work.

Having worked in a successful corporate department, you will be known for being a positive, proactive and motivated team player, keen to contribute and work collaboratively across all levels of the firm. With strong written and verbal communication and influencing skills, you are experienced in forging effective working relationships with colleagues and clients, and quickly gain an understanding of their needs and perspectives. As a PSL, you will be a vital resource for the team, and enjoy a varied and interesting workload which will fully utilise the skills and knowledge you have gained to date.
