Lead QA Automation Engineer (C#, TypeScript, API) - Bristol - New Role


£60,000 - £65,000 + Benefits + Bonus + Hybrid Working


A leading organisation in the Bristol area requries a Lead QA Automation Engineer. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the quality and reliability of software products and be responsible for reviewing, optimising and maintaining the current automation framework, as well as leading and expanding test automation throughout the organisation.


Working closely with the Test Manager, you will own the strategic improvement of automation throughout Delivery and be responsible for coaching the existing QA team in automation.


Experience:


The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of testing methodologies, technologies and toolsets and be able to provide leadership and coaching in automation as well as aid in the strategic direction of test automation across the organisation. You will be a great team-player with excellent coaching skills and a desire to help colleagues achieve their goals in automation. You will also have the folloiwing:

  • Extensive experience of Test Automation in an Agile environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of pro-active leading and coaching of automation.
  • Substantial understanding of unit, integration, and cross browser testing approaches.
  • Experience in the development of automation frameworks and technical non-functional testing.
  • Experience of using cross browser testing services like Browserstack Automate or Sauce Labs.
  • A thorough understanding of the software development life cycle. Experience in the financial services industry is highly desirable.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Extensive automation experience in various languages/frameworks including C#, TypeScript and ideally Playwright.
  • Significant API testing experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of software testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience of building automation frameworks from the ground up.
  • Understanding of what, when and how to automate complex test cases.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to explain technical techniques/issues to a non-technical audience.
  • A top-class coach, with a track-record of leading and guiding inexperienced teams in test automation.
