Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex systems, following best practices in Defence acquisition.
- Collaborate closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure all project/product requirements are fulfilled.
- Prepare and present design review materials to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support subcontractor management and review the materials and products provided.
- Develop, maintain, and control engineering documentation, including requirements, system architectures, test plans, and bill of materials.
- Provide technical expertise across projects and contribute to business development.
- Conduct feasibility studies and produce technical reports.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of internal engineering processes.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have experience in early stages of the system engineering lifecycle, focusing on:
- Requirement decomposition.
- Logical, functional, and physical architectures.
- Proficiency with Systems Modelling Language (SysML) using Enterprise Architect.
- Ability to develop physics-based mathematical models to support system development (MatLab experience preferred).
Essential Skills and Specialist Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of synthetic training solutions within the defence sector; knowledge of Naval defence platforms/systems is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in specifying, designing, developing, and implementing complex systems, including end-to-end management of system specifications.
- Previous experience in a Systems Engineering role.
- Thorough knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle and related principles.
- Ability to understand and interpret customer requirements in an operational context.
- Proficient in system architecture development using appropriate tools and modelling languages (e.g., SysML).
- Experience in Integration, Test, and Verification, including presenting verification outcomes to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Experience in writing technical reports and presenting them to both internal and external audiences.
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes, tools, and techniques within a Defence framework.
