Job Requirements/Description

What you’ll do

We are looking for a credible, confident and creative Client Development Manager to join our nationally reaching law firm; to develop and execute our firmwide marketing plan, working with other senior team members to engage with, advise and help internal clients and stakeholders to achieve their business objectives. The Client Development Manager is a critical new role that will act as a strategic advisor to our teams driving forward their business plans and supporting key development opportunities.

You’ll also have the opportunity to really broaden your expertise into the legal market, by developing your understanding of the firm’s target clients, their business needs and challenges, using this knowledge to identify key business opportunities which will further Ashfords’ success and reputation. Working with department and sector heads, partners and the wider Marketing & Client Development team, you’ll roll out a consistent development methodology to identify and develop relationships with key targets, clients and referrers; build engagement plans, and pursue business opportunities.

This role offers huge potential for job satisfaction, as you will be supporting the firm's overall business strategy and making a tangible contribution to its ongoing success.

You'll join a strong and supportive team of marketing and sales professionals, committed to developing and using our collective experience and expertise to grow the business. As a team, we work flexibly and from different locations across the South West. In person meetings typically take place at our head office in Exeter, and when we need to work together in person to find solutions to challenges or opportunities. We would ideally like this role to be based from our Bristol office.

Who you are

As an already well-established client development specialist, your experience has equipped you with confidence and credibility when collaborating with senior stakeholders, gained as a result of your ability to understand a business’s commercial objectives and provide meaningful solutions to help achieve these.

A consummate relationship developer, you will have unrivalled communication skills and be able to influence and persuade at all levels, whilst successfully building relationships with both internal and external clients. Above all, you will be enthusiastic about the firm’s proposition to our clients, ensuring this enthusiasm translates to the strategies you employ to bring them on board.

Working with multiple departments across the business means that project management and organisation will form part of your natural skillset, as well as the ability work to deadlines and manage competing priorities. We champion a progressive approach, so you will be someone who continuously looks for new and better ways of working.

You will need to be willing to roll up your sleeves, learn & develop skills and think team first; as well as act professionally and ethically, to protect the confidentiality of the organisation and our clients.

Why join Team Ashfords?

Ask our people, and they will tell you that they genuinely enjoy coming to work and spending time with their colleagues.

We’re confident that once you discover our open and friendly culture, it won’t take long for you to feel the same.

We have a genuine team approach at Ashfords because we know that when talented people work together, we achieve more for our clients and each other.

We also recognise that each of our career journeys is unique. So, we will be ambitious for you and give you the support you need to develop your career, your way.

Importantly, we will give you the space and flexibility for your life outside work too.

Our goal? To help you realise your full potential as part of a forward-thinking team and business.

That’s what sets us apart.

Our offer

We offer a range of benefits to support you at work and at home.

This includes a flexible working framework, extra annual leave for your birthday and the option to buy more holiday.

We have a comprehensive package to support physical and mental health including onsite yoga classes and a gym at our head office, healthcare plans, an Employee Assistance programme and free access to the Calm mindfulness app.

You’ll also have the chance to get involved in our responsible business programme, including fundraising initiatives through the Ashfords Foundation and bringing your energy to our environment or diversity groups.

At Ashfords, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We offer training and development opportunities to all of our people to help everyone reach their full potential.
