Intervl are an established recruitment agency specialising in placing professionals within the renewable energy and construction sectors. We are excited to be recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor role based in Bristol, offering hybrid working.


Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Bristol (Hybrid working)

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience + car allowance + annual bonus


The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in our client’s commercial operations. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this position involves handling both main and subcontract negotiations, managing commercial risks, and overseeing financial reporting for various projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced QS to work in a dynamic and rapidly growing environment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborating with the Operations team to manage a portfolio of projects valued at around £25m annually.
  • Monitoring and managing commercial operations across multiple projects.
  • Leading pre-contract discussions, including Letters of Intent (LOIs).
  • Negotiating contracts and managing contract administration for both clients and subcontractors.
  • Translating strategic business plans into detailed operational plans.
  • Managing project finances, including invoicing, cash flow management, and preparation of cost value reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Attending regular financial and project performance meetings with senior management.
  • Promoting continuous improvement across the business.
  • Educating team members on commercial and financial aspects to enhance overall business performance.
  • Staying informed on industry developments and technological advancements.


The Ideal Candidate:


  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within civils, groundworks, or electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC) and experience in contract management.
  • Excellent understanding of budgeting, cash flow management, and project financials.
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish strong working relationships.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems. Familiarity with Smartsheets is a plus.
