Job Requirements/Description

Do you like working outdoors? Do you have a flexible approach? If so, we have a great opportunity within our Sampling team.

This role will see you travelling across the picturesque Wessex Water region in the Dorchester, Poole, Blandford and Shaftesbury areas. A company vehicle and all tools needed to carry out the role will be provided.

What you'll do

Every day, we schedule and carry out the regulatory sampling programme for the water and sewerage services we provide to millions of people in the South West of England.

In addition, we provide sampling and analytical services to a range of customers, including businesses, local authorities, drinking water providers and environmental consultants.

This multifunctional role within the Sampling team involves regulatory supply sampling, cryptosporidium sampling and survey work. It offers a great opportunity to learn and develop your career in this exciting and challenging field.

Your main duties will include taking water quality samples from a variety of sources, including rivers, treatment works, reservoirs and customer properties across your local area.

You will also deal with any complaints in a professional and efficient manner, as well as ensuring we comply with industry regulations and provide our customers with a high-quality service.

You will be required to work a rota which involves some weekend working and standby.

What you'll need

You will have a positive and flexible approach to supporting team colleagues and enjoy the challenge of working outdoors and prioritising your own workload. You will also have a good attention to detail.

You will possess A levels in English, maths and science (or equivalent) as a minimum, while also being computer literate, including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.

A full clean driving is essential.

What you'll receive

  • Total pension contributions up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary.
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
