Purpose of the Role:
The Community Rugby Officer will play a key role in the Bristol Bears Community Foundation by bringing Bristol Bears RFC to the heart of communities. The role involves planning and delivering high-quality rugby and sports sessions in schools and community settings, aiming to inspire and improve the lives of individuals in Greater Bristol.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, and deliver high-quality sports coaching sessions tailored to the needs of young people in education and community settings.
- Support relationships with partner education and community organisations, maintaining regular and clear communication.
- Ensure a safe and accessible environment through person-centered delivery.
- Maximise enjoyment, participation, and holistic development opportunities.
- Ensure all coaching equipment is appropriate, correctly set up, maintained, and safely stored.
Safeguarding and Risk Management:
- Safeguard the welfare of young people, adults, and vulnerable groups at all times.
- Ensure all activities are monitored with appropriate risk assessments and health & safety procedures in place.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, using MyConcern, and report concerns or incidents to the designated safeguarding officers promptly.
- Maintain appropriate relationships with adults at risk and young people, ensuring suitable language, behavior, and demeanor.
- Complete relevant pre-employment checks, including references and Enhanced DBS checks.

General:
- Proactively attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with marketing and media staff to capture and promote success stories, case studies, and impact statistics.
- Oversee data input using the online monitoring platform ‘Upshot’ for project reports, submitted every 6 months or as required.
- Represent Bristol Bears Community Foundation, Bristol Bears RFC, and partners professionally at all times.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Delivery of high-quality sports sessions, including rugby.
- Recording, monitoring, and evaluating sessions to enhance programme quality.
- Regular communication and progress updates to the Community Rugby Manager and relevant programme leads.
Person Specification:
- England Rugby Coaching Award (ERCA) or Level 2 Coaching Award from RFU or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
- Minimum of 2 years’ sports coaching or teaching experience in paid or voluntary roles within education or community settings.
- Strong understanding of rugby and principles of team development in sport.
- Experience in delivering sports coaching sessions within schools and/or community settings.
- Ability to work at times and locations appropriate to the role, including evenings and weekends.
- Access to a vehicle and a full, valid UK driver’s license.
