Job Requirements/Description

We are currently recruiting for a qualified lawyer to join the Legal & Regulatory team within our in-house Risk & Compliance team. This role is offered on a flexible working basis, from any of our UK offices (Bristol, London, Manchester, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham).

Your Role

As a key addition to our existing team, you can expect to be involved in:

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders in relation to risk related issues
  • Assisting our Directors of Risk with strategic and operational issues, including root cause analysis investigations, transformational change projects and reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Advising and leading on matters relating to our professional regulations (including those of the SRA, Law Society of Scotland, Law Society of Northern Ireland and Law Society of Ireland), reporting to our COLP where necessary
  • Reviewing, updating and communicating firm-wide policies
  • Reviewing and advising on client terms of engagement and bid proposals
  • Assisting the team in dealing with claims and circumstances notifiable to our Professional Indemnity insurers
  • Handling complaints in accordance with the Firm’s complaint procedures 

Your Skills & Experience

We are looking for:

  • A qualified solicitor with a keen interest in law firm regulation, risk and compliance
  • Experience in professional liability/risk is preferable with a particular background in contract reviews and law firm regulation. Experience of working in-house would be beneficial
  • A forward thinker with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills who is solutions focussed, with the ability to independently manage priorities and deadlines
  • Contribution to our collaborative culture and an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members
