Job Requirements/Description

Enerveo is one of the largest contracting businesses in the UK, offering a broad scope of services including mechanical, electrical, high voltage, electrical vehicle (EV) infrastructure installation, test and inspection services, as well as street lighting.

Salary: Base salary up to £63k depending on experience for a 37-hour week. We also offer a 45-hour contract, which attracts an additional 10% annual retention bonus, based on base salary. Regular additional payments for call out rota cover and overtime rates for all works out of normal working hours. You will be required to hold the relevant Enerveo authorisation to be able to work on the 45-hour Contract, and this will be with a salary up to £77k.plus a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What will I be doing in this role? 

We are currently recruiting a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to carry out LV & HV/EHV switching, isolation, earthing, PTW, SFT, identification of the point of work and issue of safety documentation duties on construction, asset replacement and maintenance contracts on both SSEN and private networks. 

You will be responsible for all aspects of operational duties, creating switching schedules and methods of work. You’ll control & monitor installation and maintenance works on HV/LV networks up to 132kv. 

Ensuring the power distribution is maintained, you will be the delegated lead electrical person in cases of emergency and power restoration. 

In a typical day, you could expect to be: 

  • Plan outages and produce switching programmes and liaise with System/Local Control. 
  • Make dead, isolate and earth high voltage electrical networks. 
  • Actively promote a positive safety culture; monitor and control functional safety performance to ensure all Company and customer safety rules and procedures are applied by staff and contractors; Develop SHE plans for live projects and conduct RAMS reviews and briefings; Conduct induction briefings to all operatives, sub-co's and visitors on site safety and rules; Deliver TBTs; Collate actions following LSG meetings for required SHEQ tasks; Investigate, conduct interviews, and prepare reports following SHE incidents; Conduct site-based engagements on SHE promotion to field staff (including Depotnet inspections and engagement with the Client/Main Contractor).
  • Client Liaison and development and assistance with tenders and bids.
  • Responsibility for full Project Management of smaller/non complex projects
  • Support all team members in training on HV Operations and development of future engineers; Act as a mentor to trainee SAP's for operational/commercial and SHE matters; Ensure operational authorisations are kept up to date with changes in policies; provide regular reports to the relevant Line Manager on the progress of individual trainees
  • Ensure invoicing is completed (agree valuation of work order with client and raise invoice request on system for administrator to raise invoice); Ensure monthly financial targets are met.
  • Identify and release apparatus to be worked on by issue of Safety Documents and Permits to Work, SFT. 
  • Carry out high voltage testing and fault location 
  • Manage and supervise Jointer and Fitter teams. 
  • You will provide technical knowledge and expertise to the wider team, as well as supporting our clients in finding solutions to their engineering challenges. 
  • This is a predominantly site-based role where you will be required to travel within our region. It will also require availability for weekend working and on-call duties on a rota basis. 

What do I need to be successful in the role? 

  • Authorised to conduct switching operations to from LV to 11kV to33 kV, 132kV would be advantageous  
  • An excellent attitude towards safety & operational excellence. 
  • Technical knowledge of DNO switchgear & associated plant. 
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, and the ability to lead a team. 
  • Knowledge of current regulations, standards, and codes of practices  

Some of our ‘nice to haves’ are: 

  • 132 kV Authorisations would be advantageous
