The Supportability Engineering team work as part of our consultancy department who deliver services in partnership with national government bodies, international institutions and global prime contractors on enterprise transformation, feasibility analysis, systems engineering and programme delivery and support.


We are seeking a high performing Senior/Principal Supportability Consultant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking business, supporting the development of key military systems.


To deliver the Senior/Principal Supportability Consultant role you will preferably have a background in Defence. Within this role, you will have the opportunity to manage work packages on behalf of a Defence Projects Delivery Team. You will be identifying the Engineering / Support requirements and liaising with relevant project, business and technical areas to facilitate their development and delivery. As a Senior/Principal Supportability Consultant you will be required to lead multi-disciplinary tasks, including reporting, task management and line management responsibilities. This may include running multiple tasks concurrently.

You will also be expected to assist in the development and mentoring of more junior consultants as part of their professional development.


The Role: Senior/Principal Supportability Consultant

The right applicant for this role will be a Logistician, Engineer or from an ILS background, with relevant sector experience ideally working in or supporting projects within the defence sector. You must have experience in providing Engineering and Product Support Management defence based projects. You will have had experience of applying defence-based standards to the acquisition or in service support of military capability. In order to deliver this role you need proven stakeholder and relationship management skills.


The focus of this Senior/Principal Supportability Consultant role will be supporting the UK MoD with management of ILS/IPS and/or Support projects. The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of Supportability management across Defence, with experience across Operating Domains. You will need to develop strong relationships with clients within the Defence sector, with an occasional need to work at their sites.


The right applicant for this role will be someone who has a consultancy or Defence background, with the ability to work autonomously or within engineering and cross-functional teams.




As a Senior/Principal Supportability Consultant you will have:

  • Experience of support within the UK MOD and a knowledge of the UK defence sector.
  • A deep knowledge and demonstrable experience of Integrated Logistics Support (Incl. ASD and IPS Awareness) with the capacity to be involved in support solution development across the whole CADMID cycle.
  • Previously managed or been part of ILS teams, delivering an efficient support solution which bring the customer value for money.
  • Detailed understanding of DEF-STAN 00-600
  • Used SSE and SSE21
  • Experience of Supply Chain Management, Risk Analysis & Design Change Review
  • MJDI/MIS/UAA experience
  • Supply Relationship Management (SRM) & Stakeholder Management
  • Defence JSP886 / DLF, ISO9000, ISO26262 Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP)
  • Knowledge of the UK acquisition framework (e.g. Business Cases, URD, SRD, CONEMP/CONUSE, ITEAP, etc.)
  • Strong supplier and customer management skills to include engagement and interfacing with key stakeholders to develop plans and strategies.
  • Knowledge of operational environments, including understanding the challenges and impacts of the following: geography, climate, media and information, population, urbanisation or cyber.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or related field and/or
  • significant experience as a Supportability Engineer in MOD or defence-related projects.
