Job Requirements/Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Endoscopy day surgery unit as a registered Staff Nurse on A414. The successful candidate will expected to be well-motivated and enthusiastic, with a keen desire to join a busy team who pride themselves on delivering high standards of care.

A414 offers a fast paced service with four endoscopy rooms, admissions area and two second stage recovery areas, our own dedicated decontamination area and Endoscopy nurse on-call service. Patients attend our unit for various diagnostic and complex therapeutic Endoscopy procedures, we recover patient’s that have under gone ENT and maxilla facial surgery, as well as day surgery patients from main Heygroves theatre. We are looking for candidates that have the skills necessary to support the multi professional team in facilitating excellent patient care throughout the Endoscopy day surgery environment, with a specific interest in Endoscopy or Recovery.

The variety of work carried out offers vast learning opportunities and having a flexible approach enables continuous personal and professional development prospects. You will also be part of the Endoscopy nurse 24/7 rostered on-call service, supporting the Endoscopists out of hours both in the week and weekend for urgent and emergency endoscopy procedures.

Additional working pattern details: Long day shift pattern, 07:30-20:00 hours, 3/4 days per week Monday-Friday.

Main duties of the job

  • Working in the Endoscopy procedure Rooms
  • Admitting and Discharging patient pre and post procedure
  • Working in Second Stage Recovery caring for post Endoscopy and Theatre Day case patients
  • Emergency on call Rota
  • Supporting Junior Staff/students

  • Good basic level of English language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Competency in medication administration including IV drug administration or willingness to undergo training
  • Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft packages)

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

  • RGN.1st Level or relevant children’s qualification
  • Current NMC Registration

  • Training Qualification or equivalent experience
  • Relevant post registration course

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of caring for sick patients in a variety of settings – this could be as a student

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of Endoscopy/Recovery
  • Experience of taking charge
