Salary: £46,000pa to £56,000pa plus benefits.

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, and the role will require the successful candidate to be spending at least two days per week, or a minimum of 40% of their time in the Bristol hub.

Job Profile Summary 

Design and Engineering are looking for Engineers in multiple teams to meet our ongoing need to provide Data services to our wider Finance Colleagues within Lloyds Banking Group. In an evolving data landscape we provide support for new and existing processes and applications at all levels of data manipulation, automation and control. The Finance Data & Analytics Office (FDAO) is a Centre of Excellence of Data encompassing activities across Data Engineering, Data Management & Culture, Data Science and Reporting with a purpose to Empower through Trusted Data. The role/team 

The Design and Engineering Department within FDAO provide application and database support and development for the wider Finance Community. As an Engineer you will work with our stakeholders, designers and technical SMEs developing and supporting high quality data manipulation processes and applications ensuring we provide the right data, to the right people, in the right way across the Lloyds Finance Community. 

Our remit stretches from the small, single user, application up to Mid Tier Database support and increasingly beyond as we embrace future ways of working.

A typical day in this role would include… What your key accountabilities will be 

You'll be responsible for the delivery of finance applications and automated data solutions for strategic and BAU change using a variety of technical and analytical skills working alongside our Subject Matter Experts. In addition, you'll analyse data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions.  

You'll collaborate with internal teams in Design and Engineering to produce software design and architecture and will contribute to the control and monitoring of a range of services and initiatives. You'll develop, test and implement code to departmental standards and author documentation throughout the software development process. Additionally you'll proactively develop and maintain customer relationships to meet current and future business needs, working closely with business colleagues to understand and shape requirements and solutions. 

About you

You'll have demonstrable knowledge and experience in one of the following areas and will be keen to cross-skill in others: 

  • SQL – especially T-SQL, Teradata or GCP Big Query 
  • SQL Server (T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS) or other RDBMS 
  • Blue Prism or similar Robotics applications 
  • NET desktop or web development in C# 
  • Microsoft Power Application development. 

It would also be great if you had experience of:  

  • UI design and build in WPF 
  • Understanding of Object Orientated principles of design and build. 
  • Python 
  • Scripting (Powershell, bash etc) 
  • GitHub 
  • JIRA/Confluence 
  • VBA 
  • Financial Services 

The role would suit an existing Engineer or Data Analyst looking to step into a more development focused role who has the ability to collaborate or work on own initiative. You'll be able to react at pace, working with our operations team to investigate and resolve live incidents and issues. You'll also be keen to develop your own skills to meet the future and rapidly evolving technological landscape.
