Salary: £47,000 - £50,000 per annum

Hours: 40 per week, Monday - Friday

Location: Albert Road, Bristol / Hybrid

Purpose of the role:

This is a key role within the new procurement function reporting to the Head of Procurement, leading some of the below Procurement Categories. 

There are multiple categories of predominately indirect greenfield spend that need to be covered by this new procurement team. Categories to be covered are (either leading or supporting): Capital buildings, Plant, Sold Commercial services (cleaning, security, Cash in transit), Consumables, Corporate services, Building Maintenance, Fleet and Tech / Comms/ Data. 

Please note some of these categories such as Corporate Services and Building Maintenance do not require full category management but more strategic mentoring of stakeholders to drive value and mitigate commercial risk. Allocation of categories will depend on the skills and experience to date of candidates and their development wishes. You should have current category experience of three or more. Key Responsibilities:

Category specific role and responsibilities include:

  • Sets Category vision and strategy.
  • Provides Category leadership to BWC.
  • Delivers Category specific targets and KPI’s and all required category measurement and reporting on a monthly / annual cycle (current state vs targets / KPI’s)
  • Delivers Category non-invoiced value such as sustainability and innovation
  • Leads and executes the category management process in line with strategic sourcing methodology / principles and the Total Value concept.
  • Delivers on ad-hoc basis operational procurement activity outside of the core role categories.
  • Creates and delivers all the required documentation to enable the strategic sourcing process.
  • Participates in / leads Category specific strategic sourcing events.
  • Leads and delivers all Category specific supplier management (SRM).
  • Generates all category related / required data and knowledge management.
  • Delivers category specific digitalisation.
  • Leads Category specific stakeholder engagement.
  • Represents BWC to our supply chains.

Essential Requirements for the Role:

  • 5-10 years’ experience of category management, predominantly indirect
  • Experience in three or more of the named categories
  • CIPS qualified or working towards a CIPS qualification.
  • Track record of executing collaboration and improvement projects with end-to-end process efficiency at its heart 
  • Cross functional, forward thinking, and able to use a confident mix of operational and strategic initiatives in order to drive value and align to the company’s vision and long-term goals 
  • Able to perform market positioning analysis and understand how costs and value are created.
  • Experience in three or more of the named categories.
  • Excellent communicator able to influence at all levels and get internal buy in
  • Agile and dynamic team player able to deliver at speed and with limited supervision.
  • Flexible approach, able to challenge the status quo and identify long term value.
