Job Requirements/Description

Can you respond to changing priorities quickly and with confidence? Do you have the skills to support a team and to achieve positive outcomes for young people?

We are recruiting into our Bristol Youth MAPS team for the role of Senior Assessment Mediation and Support Worker. You’ll be working in an amazing multi-agency team in a fast-paced environment, line managing a small team of dedicated and expert homeless prevention workers and holding a caseload of young people. MAPS is the front-door for Bristol homelessness prevention, supporting young people aged 16-21 years who experience housing insecurity and homelessness. The work is varied, challenging, rewarding and important. We work collaboratively using a trauma-responsive approach and will support you to support young people in need.

We are striving to better represent the young people we support and therefore are particularly keen to increase applications from minoritized ethnic groups, Muslim and male candidates as they are currently under-represented in our organisation. We also encourage applications from people with relevant lived experience.

Who are we?

We are a leading youth homelessness charity based in the Southwest, working with over 1,500 young people. At 1625ip we are driven by Social Justice and Passion: we strive to do something that matters and take pride in seeing the results of our work in social outcomes and improving young people’s lives.

What you will be doing:

  • Tapping into your collaboration skills, you will work a caseload of young people, their families and wider networks, alongside council colleagues and partners to prevent homelessness.
  • Drawing on your skills in empathetic communication, you will help develop capacity and opportunities for collaborative work.
  • Line-managing a small team of three Assessment, Mediation and Support workers, providing supervision, guidance and support.
  • Working with the Operations Manager as well as the Triage and Brief Intervention and Assessment, Mediation and Support teams, alongside internal and external colleagues - to generate the best outcomes for young people and meet the needs of the team.

You will be based at Bristol Youth MAPS and your line manager will be our Operations Manager.

At 1625ip we are led by our Competency Development Framework. This connects our values to our behaviours in everything we do and gives us the tools to develop. The framework ensures our recruitment is better informed, applications and interviews are behaviourally based, and job profiles are developed on the ‘how’ of a job.

No prior experience? No problem! We believe in your potential and are committed to providing training and support to help you thrive.
